I’m not referring to the Elephunk track by the Black Eyed Peas, although that just gave me an idea for a new Pandora station.
Many AV companies are asking themselves the above. Manufacturers are leaving their network of dealers for box stores, homebuilders are including less and less in their base packages, and margins and business seem to be on the low side for longer than anticipated.
To make matters worse, only 8.8% of AIA architects say that Media/Home Theater rooms are their most popular specialty space in a home. http://www.boston.com/realestate/news/blogs/renow/2010/09/goodbye_home_th.html
Many have or are ready to throw in the towel and give up on Audio Video altogether.
So with all the advances in technology, and the decreasing prices making items ever more accessible to the mass market, why is Home Theater on the decline?
I would love to get your thoughts. I have many of my own, but will refrain from sharing them until a few others post.
